May 12, 2024 - My humans keep telling me I am a destroyer. Do you know what they mean?

Image
Hello and ciao, it's me again.  I am growing up and believe it or not, I can jump the couch now and climb the bed! Isn't that awesome? It's getting warmer now and most of the time the door to the terrace is open and I can go outside whenever I like. But I am still not allowed to be in the yard on my own. Really? I don't have a clue why! My people keep telling me that I can't be left alone because I destroy everything. What do they mean by that? Well, I do have to admit that at the beginning I loved chewing on shoes, especially on crocks. They are so soft and you can sink your teeth into it so nicely. It was also fun because my people ran after me and play fetch when I took their shoes and ran around the house. My people didn't like that too much though because the shoes were dripping afterwards.  After the shoes I found out that plants taste delicious. My favorite is the olive tree and the orange tree, rosemary and basil aren't bad but the taste is too stro...

May 02, 2024 - Life is good

Image
Ciao ragazzi, I am 4 months old now and I can tell you, life has been great so far. There is so much out there to discover!  My buddy Mogli is chilled, I can bite him in the neck, in the tail, or any other body parts without him getting angry. Sometimes he gets annoyed because I exaggerate but most of the time he is cool with it. He plays with me, we do small fights, like wrestling and barking competitions. And he taught me how to speak Huskish, or whatever it is they call the Husky language.  Smørrebrød, hej Balu, you know, I am just very patient because you are still a puppy. You should know, I am the boss of this pack, including our humans! Chill brother, I do know that, but I am the cool Italian guy. All the neighbors love me and think I'm cute, even the neighbors who didn't say Ciao to my humans in the past do so now - because of me. Only problem, I have to pee every time I get excited. That's kind of embarrassing, but I can't help it.  It's fun teasing my huma...

Ciao tutti!!!! April 1, 2024

Image
Ciao a tutti, io sono Balu. Parlo correntemente italiano, ma i miei nuovi umani non mi capiscono molto. Ora devo imparare il tedesco e l'inglese. Ma siamo in Italia ed è una lingua così bella.  Ok, let's try that in English, I am a fast learner when it comes to languages and not so much when it is about behavior or other things. Ciao tutti, I am Balu. I speak fluent Italian, but my new humans don't really understand me. Now I have to learn German and English. But we're in Italy and it's such a beautiful language. My humans told me that a lot of people are reading this blog and I fear I have big footsteps to fill.  In contrast to Lupo I haven't traveled much. My longest ride was from the refugio in Rome to my new house.  When my humans picked me up I didn't know what to expect, but I seem to have hit it well. Mogli is the best buddy I could have wished for - very patient and smart. Sometimes he wants to be left alone and I try to find out how far I can go wit...

March 26, 2024 - The course of life

Image
Smørrebrød, Smørrebrød; hej, it's me, Mogli. I was born in Sweden but that's about all I know in Swedish. I know, you were wondering if this blog would ever be continued after no new blog entry was made for than two years. Time flew and Lupo and I were busy living "la dolce vita". Well, not all the time, but most of it. We did a couple of excursions though. Have you ever been to Giardino di Ninfa (https://www.giardinodininfa.eu/)? This is a beautiful garden with a castello nearby and is pronounced to be the most romantic garden in the world. Unfortunately, we couldn't run free, that would have been a dream, but nevertheless it was beautiful, and we had a lot of newspapers to read. We visited Terracina, the Tempio di Giove Anxur (https://comune.terracina.lt.it/contenuti/49704/tempio-giove-anxur) and the beach. I love the beach, but I am scared of the water. And we even went on holiday in San Nicola Arcella in Calabria.  In Serrone we attended La festa in onore de...

Buffalo farm, herding dogs and living in Serrone - February 9, 2022

Image
After living in Italy for about a month now I can say I love it. The climate is perfect for me and my old bones and whenever the weather is good my humans leave the office door open so that Mogli and I can lie outside on the patio in the sun. We made tours to some towns around here, for example Olevano Romano. And we’ve been to the centro storico of Serrone, our hometown. Boy I can tell you, these roads up there are crazy, steep roads, 25-degree bends and on one side of the road the mountain and on the other side steep gradient.    Smørrebrød, smørrebrød, remtemtemtem, Lupo what are you blogging about? Are you telling our readers about our drive up to the top of Monte Scalambra? Don’t be a fraidy-cat, it's fun driving up there. I wish we could have run around free and chase the wild horses down the hill. I wish I could join one of the paragliders that fly down there. That must be great!     Oh, Mogli you are a diehard! The poor horses - I’m sure they w...

Our new home – January 4, 2022

Image
My turn, my turn, my turn! Hej everyone smørrebrød, it’s me, Mogli! Lupo needs a break, he’s getting old. I will blog now!   No, you will not, this is my blog and you can help me once in a while. For now you can go on, but I will have a close eye on you. Don’t blog any nonsense.   Smørrebrød, ok, you are the boss old man. My English is not good. Please be patio with me, no patient. Today we moved into the house. We had to leave öhrli, early in the morning. San Quirico, the town where we move to, is located on a mountain. We drove up-hill for quiet, quite a while. Smørrebrød, tabernac, writing in English is not as easy as I thought. My humans, sorry, our humans, were afraid we wouldn’t make it to San Quirico with the trailer. But we did! We drove by at first, there was no smørrebrød number on the house. This seems to be common in Italy. And if there are numbers on the houses they are not in order. Not all the time I mean.   The landlord, was waiting for...

Packing? Moving? Italy? – January 03, 2022

Image
We returned from Italy after spending a week. Mogli and I enjoyed running around and meeting new people. Everyone we met was so nice. My humans had a couple of meetings over the days, and it looked like they were happy with what they achieved. Now back in Fachbach they worked a lot for a couple of weeks, sitting in front of these big boxes and stressed. The weather wasn’t very good and Mogli and I weren’t too keen to go for a walk. Once we met the owners of Chloe and Cindy and my owners got the news that Cindy crossed the rainbow bridge. This was sad news. After some weeks my humans started moving around things, bringing more stuff from the storage and packing boxes. All of a sudden ,a lot of packed boxes were everywhere in the apartment. Normally when that happens, we are usually about to move somewhere else but the last time they packed boxes like that we moved from Frankfurt to the USA. Are we going back to Nevada? But no, they did not talk about Nevada or flights, they talked about...

Mediterranean Sea and running free in Broccostella – October 17, 2021

Image
We left early the next morning. The humans had breakfast at the B&B while Mogli and I waited patiently in our room. Next stop was Broccostella where we would stay for a couple of days.   Again my humans chose to drive along the coastline as long as possible and luckily they did because shortly after we left Piombino my master saw a sign with “dog beach” written on it. Finally, Mogli and I could feel sand under our paws, feel the sun on our fur and run on the beach. Mogli wasn’t sure if he liked it, he was very skeptical about this weird feeling on the paws and the salty, moving water. After a while he loved it but he did not go into the water. I tried to walk into the sea but it was cold – too cold for me anyways. We spent more than half an hour on the beach before we went back to the car and drove on.   In the early afternoon we arrived in Broccostella, at the Agriturismo La Pesca Villa www.facebook.com/agriturismolapesca. Miriam, the owner, welcomed us warmly a...

It feels like summer – Piombino/Italy - October 16, 2021

Image
My humans did not get up too early so Mogli and I had a good long night. My humans packed most of the stuff they had taken to the room the night before back in the car. Then they took us to the car and Mogli and I waited in the back of the car while our humans had breakfast and checked out of the hotel. Great opportunity to have another nap before we would be on the road again. We did not take the Autobahn, instead my humans tried to drive along the coastline as much as they could. They said we weren’t in a hurry and they thought it’s nicer to be able to enjoy the drive. Our next stop was Piombino where my mistress booked a room in a B&B. It was a nice drive and we could see the Mediterranean Sea. In the afternoon we arrived at the B&B called Regina Margerita, just like the name of the street where it is located in Piombino. www.bedreginamargherita.com/ It’s a small B&B close to the historic part of the city. In the evening my humans decided to walk into town to g...

Italy, a new country to discover – October 15, 2021

Image
Not much happened the last couple of months. My humans were very busy working on the big box they call computer. They move something called mouse and all of a sudden they have colorful pictures on the box. Their mouse does not smell and does not have fur or a tail and it does not run away – how boring! Now we have to go to Italy to talk to some people there, my humans will talk, not Mogli or me. Today we left early in the morning. Mogli and I had our dog beds in the car. The night before I had to go out to take care of some personal business. Not only once but twice. My humans hardly got any sleep. Luckily I was able to sleep in the car. After a couple of hours of driving we arrived in Switzerland and later Italy. When we came to the Italian border control nobody was there and we could just drive over the Swiss border.   Switzerland has a lot – and I mean a looooooot – of tunnels. Short ones, some open on one side like a gallery and others are pretty long, just like the Gotthard tu...

Mogli. loves joggers - September 15, 2021

Image
My mistress is busy painting walls, doors, ceilings and furniture. Because my humans do "Living for work" they help around the house wherever help is needed. In return they can live in a room, apartment or camper for free and sometimes even food is included. So, my mistress goes painting a few hours every day whereas my master does other things, like repairs.  I can't smell much chemicals when my mistress comes back after doing paint jobs. She uses chalk colors. In the pictures you can see some things she painted. before - after After my humans finish their work around here, they work on their software or walk us dogs. Sometimes we walk up the hill to the big cross or to the little oratory. Other times we drive to the woods or to the field on top on one of the hills. Mogli and I can run free there. We both love running free, but I get tired easily. I have to admit, I am getting oder and calmer, whereas the young fellow Mogli never gets tired. He is having so much fun whe...

Food - the most important thing in life - July 2, 2021

Image
I already told you that I love food, not just dog food but human food as well. My humans fed me a lot of different dog foods, some of them I liked, others I did not. They feed me dry food, my digestion is not too keen on wet food. In the USA I had food with peanut butter flavour, or cheeseburger flavour, in Canada it was mainly hamburger flavour. Here in Germany it's chicken or beef flavour, sometimes duck. None of them were outstanding. While we were in Burg, Dithmarschen a year ago, my humans found a shop that sells dog food mainly made out of fish. My humans bought a sack of food there and I loved it right away. Mogli? Don't ask him, he will anything, he doesn't care.  Mogli: "That's not true, I love a good taste. I only eat paper because I can chew on it and will not tear anything else apart. Remember, I'm a Husky and I love fish, that's in my blood. I was born in Swedish Lapland." Be quiet, you don't care how the food tastes, as long as it i...

Funny dolls in the garden, Chloe and Cindy and my mistress broke her arm - April 23, 2021 On Easter Sunday my humans, Mogli and I went for a walk in the woods. All of a sudden while talking to my master, my mistress slipped and fell. She fell on her left side, very hard, and I could hear a crack. She was in a lot of pain when she got up again. My master took her to the Bundeswehr Krankenhaus (a hospital) in Koblenz. My master, Mogli and I had to wait quite a while until she finally came back to the car. She had a cast on her left arm, the arm was broken and needed to be in the cast for about 6 weeks. Now she can't take a shower and needs help doing somethings. Luckily my master is here and can help her. Sometimes when our humans take Mogli and me for a walk at the Lahn we meet two boxer dog girls named Cindy and Chloe. It's fun playing with them and if no other dogs are around we can run free. Cindy is older than I am and she doesn't like it when I say hallo doggy style, y...

March 27, 2021 – my mistress is an artist and I love her pictures

Image
All these pictures I add to my blog or post on my Facebook page are taken by my mistress. But she only shares the “not so good ones” with me, most of the time. I love her pictures!   Last year she made that short video of the Husky farm we stayed at. Now she finally found the time to finish it to the full length of the song. All the pictures and videos in this video are made by my mistress and she did everything else too (except the music). It gives me the chills when I watch this. Unfortunately I could never see the dogsled because I had to wait at home but I know all the dogs personally, played with some of them and I am part of this video. Some of the dogs in the video crossed the rainbow bridge.   Maybe you want to watch it too and let me or my mistress know what you think.   My mistress loves taking pictures of wildlife and details. She could sit for hours and wait for something to show up that’s worth taking a picture of. Unfortunately there weren’t many occasions t...
