May 20, 2019 – Germany? Airplane? Packing? And another balloon jam

Image
Yesterday my humans started packing suitcases and a big box. I got a little nervous and my mistress noticed. She saw that I was restless and confused about what they were doing and told me that we have to leave the country and go back to Germany because that’s what border control told us when we came into the USA in February. She also told me that my master and she prepared as much as they would to apply for an Investment Visa while we are in Germany and hopefully get it to be able to come back for good. Honestly, I do not see the sense in all that. Why can’t we just live where we want to and where we like it? I like it here and I don’t want to go back to Germany. Most of all I don’t want to fly in an airplane again. Ok, the last flight wasn’t too bad because I could be with my mistress. She assured me it will be the same again this time, I can come with her in the cabin and lie in front of her seat. I think I am fine with that, although, it is a very long flight. I told my mistress

May 3, 2019 – Rainforest Café never gets boring

Image
In a couple of days is my human’s wedding anniversary and Mothers Day. My humans decided to celebrate that early because they try to sell the car. Why would they want to sell the car? It’s so convenient to have the car; they can drive me to the dog park. Well, whatever – they said they would celebrate this today and go out for dinner. Last time we’ve been at the Rainforest Café the food was very good and they liked it there. So they reserved a table for that evening. I like the Rainforest Café, there is so much to see and hear besides all the good smells from the food. My humans parked at Planet Hollywood as the parking is free and it’s close to the Rainforest Café. Walking through Planet Hollywood is fun, as long as you don’t walk through the area where they are gambling. When we arrived at the Rainforest Café we were guided to our table, a big round table in a booth. Behind my mistress was a huge Gorilla. No worries – not a real one although you could think so. He was talking (i

May 2, 2019 – Province of Ontario, where the Great Lakes are and millions of mosquitos and black flies.

Earlier this year I promised you to blog about all the states we drove through on our way from Port Hope, ON Canada to Pahrump, NV USA. I will blog in exactly the order we traveled. We left the province on Ontario. Ontario is a province in east-central Canada that borders the U.S. and the Great Lakes (Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario). Canada’s capital is Ottawa in Ontario. I have been to Ottawa when we paddled with the West Wind Brigade in 2017. On the Rideau Canal was the first time I was in a canoe that’s why I remember that so well. It also was the first time I met Native People on Victoria Island. “The province is named after Lake Ontario, a term thought to be derived from Ontarí:io, a Huron (Wyandot) word meaning "great lake", or possibly skanadario, which means "beautiful water" in the Iroquoian languages. Ontario has about 250,000 freshwater lakes.” Ontario has large areas of uplands, the highest point is Ishpatin

May 1, 2019 – Home for now

Image
Today I want to talk about my home where I live wright now with my humans. I heard people talking about apartment buildings in Las Vegas a lot. Not everything was I heard was positive and so I was a bit skeptical when my humans told me that we would move into one of these apartment buildings. The studio apartment they rented is not very big; it’s a one-room apartment with a kitchenette and a bathroom. It’s comfortable and clean. IT’s called Rubix. Rubix is “located in the North East area of the Las Vegas valley, The Rubix offers quick and easy access to Nellis Air Force Base, The Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the I 15 North. Shopping and dining are all around and we are only 15 minutes from the famous Las Vegas Strip!” (https://www.liveatrubix.com/). There are a couple of amenities in the building. I don’t care about most of them because I am a dog and do not have to do laundry or use the fitness room. Also I do not need Internet, TV, game room or all that stuff. But, they do have

April 23, 2019 – Balloon Jam in the park

Image
I told you before that my humans are balloon artists. They do know a couple of balloon artists in the Las Vegas area and today some of them came together to jam. My mistress suggested and Janet organized a jam in the park. Normally they gather in a restaurant to eat and jam. Craig Ranch National Park is not far from our home and they do have a nice dog park, not as nice as Frasier Park but still ok. Sorry, you might not be interested in that, just got carried away. Ok let’s start again. Craig Ranch National Park is a nice park, approximately 170 acres in size with a 65,000 square-foot skate park as well as four civic plazas, two lighted competition baseball fields, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, community gardens, eight reservable ramadas and expansive open spaces. Janet and my mistress decided to use one of the ramadas and barbeque. That way we could sit in the shade. My humans had to get some things before we went to the park. Next stop was the dog park. Here we go – t

April 12, 2019 – Valley of Fire

Image
Today my humans decided to do some more sightseeing. They wanted to be out in nature again and enjoy the great weather. After a 28 miles ride with the car, we arrived at Valley of Fire State Park. Valley of Fire State Park is northeast of Las Vegas and right next to the Moapa Paiute Reservation. It is covering nearly 46,000 acres/ 19.000 ha. This is what the brochure says: “Valley of Fire derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs, 150 million years ago. Complex uplifting and faulting of the region, followed by extensive erosion, have created the present landscape. Other important rock formations include limestone, shale, and conglomerates. Prehistoric users of Valley of Fire included the Basket Maker people and later the Anasazi Pueblo farmers from the nearby fertile Moapa Valley. The span of approximate occupation has been dated from 300 B.C.E. to 1150 C.E. Their visits probably involved hunting, food gatherin
