December 8, 2019 - Christmas Market and a small reunion

Image
It‘s Jeanette‘s birthday today. You might ask yourself now: „who the heck is Jeanette?“. Jeanette is an old friend of my humans. They have been friends for more than 40 years now. They haven‘t seen each other for almost exactly four years. Jeanette lives in the Netherlands but on her birthday she visited her dad in Germany. While there was Christmas Market on that weekend she suggested meeting at the Christmas Market with my humans and some other „old“ friends. Andi {short for Andrea), Ulrike and Marc came too. A reunion after a couple of years. My humans hadn‘t seen Andi for almost 35 years but they stayed in contact over the Internet. Christmas Market might be fun for humans but not so much for me. There was food stands everywhere and I did not get anything! My humans had Bratwurst and Crepes with Nutella and Glühwein. Do you think they gave me a bite of that? WRONG, I didn’t get a single bite to at least try it. Instead it was raining, actually it was pouring. If you followed my

December 3, 2019 - My mistress is a professional reader.

Image
For more than a year my mistress has been a professional reader. That means she is reading books the publisher makes available to her and she writes a review about it, which is eventually published. She reads a lot of books. As we are traveling a lot it is not possible to carry all these books along, that‘s why my mistress is reading eBooks. Sometimes that‘s stressful as she is supposed to read and review them within three weeks and some books are quite long. Plus she has more to do than readings books. Some of the books she is reviewing are cookbooks and my mistress prepares some of the recipes in these books. Besides a blog where she reviews the books she also has a Facebook page. Maybe you would like to visit that blog or Facebook page. The books she reads are in German and English and so are the reviews. To be honest, I would prefer her to do less reading and go out in the fields more often. If it was for me I could be outside running in the fields all day long - as long as i

November 30, 2019 - Enno

Image
Today was a special day my mistress looked forward to - a lot. In 2018 my mistress‘s nephew was born and she has only seen him once since then. Well, of course we were in the USA and Canada and only returned to Germany in May 2019, so there wasn‘t much chance. So today was the great day to see Enno for the second time and this time in more privacy since last time when all the family was present. Enno is a cute little boy. At first he was a little scared by me, well understandable, I am almost as tall as he is when I stand on my four feet. I was tempted to just lick over his face because he smelled so good. Don‘t worry, I know how to behave and did not do that. My humans talked a lot to my mistress‘s sister and her husband. They had a lot to catch up on. Talking about my mistress‘s sister and her husband (let’s call them He and She) I have to tell you a story that is funny somehow, especially looking back. Before He and She got married He had a bachelor party. His twin brother, bo

November 16, 2019 - Mrs. B

The house we are currently living in is an old house. I don‘t know how old but you can tell, it is very old. We only use one room where we sleep and during the day my humans move the mattress and set up the table to work. Well of course there is a kitchen, a toilet and a shower. The rest of the house still has all the belongings of the man that used to live in here before he passed away. One half of the house still belongs to Mrs. B. Mrs. B is 95 years old. She has problems walking but she is still fit in her head. My humans help her around the house, to sort stuff and things like that. My mistress is impressed; Mrs. B has very old books and amazing things like a Laterna Magica and more. And all the old pictures and letters from Mrs. B’s grandparents she kept. Just imagine, she is 95 years old so her grand parents must have been born around 1875. That was shortly after Prussia was in war with Austria and France. The titanic sunk in 1912, two generations after Mus.B.’s grandparents wer

November 7, 2019 - Are we traveling again?

Image
The last couple of days were quiet, my humans worked on projects like the web site for the FlyHuLodge, the husky farm we just visited in Swedish Lapland. In the afternoon we went to Peter‘s mother’s house. When we arrived there were packed suitcases in the hallway. My master packed the suitcases in the car and we all left to Frankfurt Airport. Frankfurt, Airport - that‘s where we left when we went to the USA or Canada. Are we traveling again? Did I miss something? The humans lined up in front of a check in counter along with other people. When it was our turn Peter‘s mother was checked in. Bummer, I hoped we would travel again, maybe back to the desert in Pahrump or maybe to Canada. Instead my humans and I left and returned home. I can‘t tell you how disappointed I am. I really miss traveling. Meeting new people, see new places, smell unknown things, that‘s so exiting. We‘ve been here in Germany for four months now and it starts getting boring. Maybe I have to talk to my mistress
