Traveling The World with my humans

We are moving on, Josef is looking for someone that will assist him for a long time, like a couple of years and my humans have different plans. My humans already found another place where they will work for accommodation. There is a small hotel in Fachbach that needs some renovation and my humans will help with that. Wow, isn’t that crazy, we are traveling all over Germany because Fachbach is in Rheinland-Pfalz.   This morning my mistress picked up the rental car and after my master packed the car we drove off. First stop was Oberursel where my humans picked up some stuff they needed, next stop was the storage unit in Mainz. My humans stored some things they do not need for our stay in Fachbach. They still carried the winter clothes from Lapland with them and they said they would not need them for now. Mogli and I like being here in Unterfeldbrecht. As it is close season we are not allowed to run without a leash. My mistress bought a 15m/49 ft. leash and Mogli and I both got the chance to run on the long leash. It was also a possibility to train Mogli to listen to the commands. There are woods and fields all around town and not much traffic. One day we went on a very long walk, it felt forever to go back home. I am a senior and allowed to complain about long walks. The only downfall here is the ticks. There are thousands, millions of ticks and after every walk my humans found like 10 ticks or more in my fur. They decided to get a spot-on to keep the ticks away. Luckily that worked and Mogli and I did not have to deal with these creatures again.   Josef is a very friendly person and so is his family. They laugh a lot and my humans love that. Our time here in Burg is over and Michael the owner of the flat will move back in. Mogli, my humans and I are moving to Bavaria now, to a little town called Unterfeldbrecht with about 100 people living there. Instead of going by train my humans rented a car to go there. We left early in the morning and first we had to take the ferry to cross the Nord-Ostsee Kanal. On the Autobahn was a traffic jam and it took us about 4 hours to drive 50 kilometers/31 miles. The reason was a construction area. As we had air conditioning in the car and plenty of room Mogli and I were fine with this. We slept most of the time. Because of the many construction areas our trip took almost double the time it would have taken without it. We arrived in Unterfeldbrecht at midnight.   You might wonder what we are doing in a small town like Unterfeldbrecht. It was a beautiful day today, the sun was shining and it wasn’t too hot. My humans decided to walk to the Nord-Ostsee Kanal, the channel that connects the North Sea to the Baltic Sea, where all the big ships that are made in Kiel have to pass to go to the open sea, cruise ships like Queen Mary II or other ships of all sizes. After we walked through the town of Burg we walked a small path to the channel. It was beautiful, so many things to smell. My mistress had a backpack with a snack for my master and her as well as some treats and water for Mogli and me. Mogli was very excited but he enjoyed it very much, so did I. When we arrived at the channel we saw a small ferry that crossed the channel because there was no bridge. My mistress told me that a bridge wouldn’t make sense, as the big ships that use that channel are very high. Makes sense to me. The humans sat down at a picnic table and Mogli and I relaxed in the grass. We watched the ships go by and shortly before we left a bigger co

If you follow my blog you know that Mogli was living on a Husky farm in Swedish Lapland and that my humans adopted him. In Lapland Mogli used to live in a kennel with other dogs. This is where he was born and where he grew up. So he can survive in the winter living in a kennel but he has no experience with other things. Let me explain to you. First at all Mogli has never seen a cat before we arrived in Germany. Now all of a sudden there were cats everywhere on the streets in Burg. He didn’t know what to do with them and tried to play and say Hi but the cats didn’t appreciate his behavior and hissed at him. In Germany in some towns people collect plastic garbage in yellow plastic bags. They put them on the street on the evening before they will be picked up. Of course these plastic bags make noises when the wind blows. Mogli was scared of these bags at first but he experienced that they don’t jump on him and that I was cool with them. As my humans work a lot on their software I can nap a lot. They go for a walk with Forrest and me a couple of times a day. Sometimes short walks and sometimes long ones. Forrest fell in love with Tina, a Yorkshire terrier lady. I know, she is way too small for him but what can you do about falling in love? So every time we walk past her house he is excited and looking for her everywhere. If she is outside she barks at him and tells him to stay away. Poor Forrest he is frustrated. On our walks we pass a pony, goats and a lot of cows. Forrest has never seen any of these animals before and he was very brave when he first saw them. It was still very cold in Lapland when we left and Forrest and I still have winter fur. Now with the warmer weather we change our fur and loose a lot of hair. My mistress has a special tool to get rid of the old hair and when we go for a walk she takes it with her to comb our hair. I am used to it and although I don’t like it too much know that I feel way better

We had a good and quiet night on the ferry. Forrest had to go to the bathroom at about 5 am and my mistress was able to watch a beautiful sunrise. I preferred to stay in the cabin and sleep. When finally the alarm woke up my humans they had breakfast, packed our gear and at around 9 am we arrived in Kiel. The owner of the AirBnB offered to pick us up in Kiel and my humans were happy with that as we did not have to take go to Kiel main station somehow, take the train to Burg (Dithmarschen) and walk to the apartment. Again it was great to have the ramps from the ferry into the terminal and not to take a shuttle bus and walk stairs. Forrest was very excited and he couldn’t wait to find out what was happening next. When he gets excited he wines and jumps. He is a really good jumper – he jumps over my human’s head from a standing position. His dad, Snowfox, is a great jumper too. Michael, our host, was very friendly and the humans talked a lot while Forrest and I looked out of the windows.

This was a very, very long journey but finally we made it to Gothenburg. My humans were tired, as they couldn’t sleep on the train.   The ferry to Kiel would be leaving in the evening so we had to spend a couple of hours in Gothenburg. My humans told me that in Germany and a lot of other countries had to wear masks that cover mouth and nose due to that Corona virus and that they have to keep distance to each other. Here in Gothenburg you couldn’t experience anything like that. On the train nobody had worn a mask. Sweden obviously handled that differently. They also told me that we left to Germany so quickly because they reopened the borders and it was possible to travel to Germany and not have to go into quarantine for 2 weeks. My master went to look for a place where they could store the luggage so that we could walk around and visit Gothenburg. Quickly he found the place and while he was in the elevator with the luggage my mistress, Forrest and I took the stairs. The stairs were buil

My humans were still busy packing all our stuff and doing last minute things on the farm. Forrest and I had to stay in the kennel. In the afternoon the owners of the Husky farm took us all to the train station. On the way reindeers crossed the street. I have never seen reindeers but Forrest told me what these animals are. After about an hour in the car we arrived in Ålvsbyn where we would board the train to Gothenburg. As we arrived early we had to wait and Forrest and I had a short nap on our blankets. A lot of people waited on the platform for the train. Forrest had never seen a train before in his entire (well, quite short) life. He was a little nervous but when he saw that I was chilled he calmed down.  My humans, Forrest and I boarded the train, stored the luggage and the humans went to their seats.
