February 25, 2020 - My humans got a special treat today

Image
This morning my humans and the other humans left early. They took most of the dogs with them in the trailer as well as the dog sleds. I stayed in the camper waiting for them to come back. It was a long, long wait or at lest it felt like it. I had water and food and could nap on the bed. When they returned my humans were exhausted and cold. They had spent about 6 hours outside with a temperature of -20C. But it was a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine. My humans told me that they got a special treat - they had a tour on the dog sled. They told me that this was an incredible experience, sitting on the sled being pulled by 12 dogs and feeling the power these dogs have. The dogs love to run, they are born for this. Let me clarify, most of them are born for this, some are not. Luckily I am not a Husky and nobody expects me to pull a sled with humans on it. There are two lead dogs in the front. They follow the commands of the musher. Musher is the name for the person that's in

February 13, 2020 -I love to play with my friends

Over the weekends most of the dogs and humans are in Piteå where the dogsled tours take place. For me that means I can visit some of my friends in the kennels. One of my friends is Aspen. He is too old to run and honestly, I think he might be a little too fat. Most of the time Aspen is chilled. He sleeps most of the day just like I am. When he is all by himself because his buddies are working I sneak in and we play in his kennel. Playing with Aspen is fun but sometimes one of us gets overwhelmed and my mistress takes me out of the kennel. I am not too much into rough playing, well at least I am not any more. Back in the days when I was younger, but that's a different story. Besides Aspen there is Holden and Forrest. Holden is quite new here and hasn't found his place yet and Forrest is 10 months old. I played with him and his siblings when we were here last autumn. Most of his siblings are having a high energy level, let's describe it this way. They run and play without

January 27, 2020 - We are traveling again, yeah!

Not much happening in the beginning of the new year. My humans and I had to leave the house of Mrs B as there was some trouble of who can decide if we can stay there or not, My humans were tired of that and after some friends of Mrs B (well, they said they were friends but Mrs B never talked to my humans after she left in December) threatened my humans that they would tell the police we are in the house illegal, although my humans had an oral agreement and the company that inherited one half of the house (not legalized yet) gave it in written that we could stay until the end of February and so we moved out of the house. I don't know anything about these things but I didn't like the house too much, it had a moldy smell and the church bells hurt my ears. My humans seemed to be depressed in the house and I can feel that but can't do much to help. My humans thought about going to Tim’s house in Northern Ontario because Tim urgently needs help with the organization of the b

January 2, 2020 – I hate fireworks and is that beam holding up?

Really, do you humans have to have fireworks for New Years Eve? What is that hype about New Years Eve anyways, it’s just another day just like any other. Special days are days when I can experience a new hiking path, get a new toy, or go to any special place like a restaurant, a National Park or visit another dog. Besides that there is nothing interesting in days. So please explain to my why you have fireworks on a not so special day? My mistress tried to explain to me that this New Years Eve is the change from one year to another and that the original purpose was to scare away the bad ghosts of winter. First at all, what is a calendar – is that something to eat or does is smell good? In this case it would be interesting for me but otherwise I don’t care what it is. Do you have any idea how loud a firework is for the ears of a dog? Dogs can hear more frequencies and we can hear sound four times farther away than humans. You might know that sound is caused by air vibrations. I can ev

December 30, 2019 – Missing Hermy

My humans are talking about Hermy a lot at the moment; actually they call her Omi Hermy. We met Hermy in Port Hope last year and my humans love her and so do I. Maybe you read my posts about her last year, how she found the house she was looking for. Last week my humans received an email from Hermy that she wasn’t feeling well and my humans responded immediately. Until now they haven’t heard from Hermy and they are very worried about her. It’s not like her to not answer to emails. So Omi, if you read that – please let my humans and me know if you are fine – we are worried and concerned.

It’s Christmas, so my humans told me. My humans did not celebrate much on Christmas Eve, which is called Heiligabend here in Germany. Normally people have a decorated Christmas tree in the house, with presents and the family gathers. Before we left Germany in 2015 the humans used to have a nice dinner together. My mistress prepared a goose filled with apples and chestnuts with dumplings, red cabbage and gravy as well as a desert, and after they had dinner they exchanged presents, played games and had a lot of fun. In our case my humans and I gathered, as usually. I got a very special dish to celebrate the day – cottage cheese! My mistress prepared a special meal too just not a goose. Normally my humans work until the evening but today they stopped working by noon and enjoyed the rest of the day. My mistress was a sad because she misses the rest of the family but somehow she wasn’t able to see them since summer time although some of them just live about 20 km away. I could feel that sh

December 22, 2019 - Does it hold up?

Remember I told you we are currently living in that nice, small and old house of Mrs. B’s? Well, yesterday my humans discovered that the beam in that one room is about to break completely. A little while ago before we moved in here the roof was leaking and it got wet on top of the ceiling. Actually there was a big puddle there and at one point all the water came through the ceiling. That’s what Mrs. B told us. Somebody installed a board to hold up the ceiling. The beam cracked but was holding up. That seemed to solve the problem. For the last couple of days we could hear cracking and my humans and I thought that’s mice building a nest or looking for food. Yesterday my humans noticed that the ceiling had opened on one side of the room. It was already late in the evening and all shops were closed so they couldn’t do anything. Today, first thing in the morning, they got a pillar from the hardware store to keep the beam from collapsing completely. Fortunately we don’t live in that room. M
