Traveling The World with my humans

September 26, 2019 - Good morning Sweden When I woke up we were almost there - in Trelleborg, Sweden. My humans had a restless night; they couldn’t sleep which is totally understandable, as they are not used to sleep on the floor. While most of the other passengers went to their cars my humans and I waited until the ferry docked at the ferry terminal and we could de-board. Maybe I need to explain to you what a ferry is because you might be as clueless as I am. A ferry is a ship that brings cars, trucks and busses as well as their passengers from one ferry terminal across the sea to another ferry terminal. We did not have a vehicle but that did not matter. It was still dark outside when we arrived in Trelleborg, well it was 4:30 am, no wonder it was still dark. It’s official, in three days we will leave to Swedish Lapland. SWEDISH LAPLAND???? OMG, it’s cold there. Are my humans nuts? On a second thought, I love snow. You might ask yourself what we are doing in Swedish Lapland, well here is the reason: My humans saw a post in a Facebook Group called “Wohnen gegen Hand und Hilfe” or translated Residence for Hand and Help (https://www.facebook.com/groups/935969523116423/). Somebody offered to live in Swedish Lapland for helping on a Husky and Fly Fishing Farm. They offer dog sleigh trips in the winter. For about two months my humans have been in contact with the people of that farm and now finally they fixed the date and my mistress purchased all the tickets. The trip takes about 48 hours by train and ferry. As this is a Husky Farm there will be plenty of dogs I can play with. Maybe I can even try to be part of a dog sleigh team? Ah no, I don’t think that’s a good idea; I am a senior after all. But I will play in the snow and enjoy. What if

My humans got the offer to stay in a small house for a while and in return they would clean out the house. The person that lived in the house before recently passed away and everything but the furniture had to be removed. There are lots of clothes, books and other stuff in the house. So now my humans separate clothes, garbage and things that can be sold at the flea market. They have been busy for a couple of days and when they managed to clean out one room we moved in. It is not finished yet but the remains are mainly books that need to go into the paper trash and some personal belongings that remain in the house for now. The house has a small garden and I can go outside whenever I like to, well at least during the day when the weather is nice. While my humans sleep on an air mattress for now I have the couch to sleep on all by myself. So far it seems this is just temporary because my humans have plans. I’ll keep you posted.

Today was a warm and sunny day, and my humans decided to go to Frankfurt again and do some sightseeing. The historic center of Frankfurt existed from the beginning of Frankfurt and was first mentioned in 794. In WWII a lot of the old buildings were destroyed and only a few rebuild. Just recently the historic center of Frankfurt was reconstructed and my humans wanted to see the finished project. They were very impressed of the finished project. There were little shops everywhere. The butcher shop smelled very good but I got nothing. My humans walked around for a while and then found a place where you can see parts of the original wall that was built around the center of Frankfurt in the beginning. The city is called Frankfurt because the Franconians (in German „Franken“) crossed the river Main using the ford (in German „Furt“). The first settlement was build right there. My humans wanted to go to the city of Frankfurt/Main today. The city where we lived a couple of years. They were curious how much it has changed since they left and my mistress wanted to go to the Apple store to exchange her case for the cellphone. The trip to the Apple store took longer than expected and there wasn’t much time to do anything else. But we went to the Alte Oper and saw the Goethe statue. Did you know Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1782? He was a famous author. He wrote Faust, many people all over the world know that book. You can visit the Goethe House in Frankfurt where he was born. The Alte Oper, Old Opera, used to be the original opera house in Frankfurt am Main. It was inaugurated in 1880 but in WWII it was destroyed by bombs. In the 1970s it was rebuilt and in 1981 reopened. My humans do remember this and my mistress was there to listen to a lot of concerts and even performed there with the Darmstaedter Konzertchor. One time she w

My humans and I moved again, back to my master’s mother‘s house. She wasn‘t feeling good and the humans decided it would be better if she weren’t on her own. A couple of days earlier she fainted and woke up a couple of hours later. Where she lives I can run in the fields. I would love this even more if there weren‘t any grass mites. I completely forget about them when I play with dog friends. My master walked me yesterday and we met Beau, she is a Landseer and she is huge. My master says she is no dog but a calf. Well, they are both the same size, that‘s for sure. Beau and I had a great time together and a lot of fun. Maybe I can see her again, although she is not my type, you know, I didn't fall in love with her like I did with other dog ladies. So far most dogs I met here in Germany are very grumpy. They are not friendly at all. When you meet them on the street or walk by when they are behind a fence they growl and me and start barking in a very unfriendly way. I can‘t remembe

Later this afternoon my master went for a walk with me. When we left the house there was something strange. There was a tarp on the left, right in front of the house. There were policemen too. I could smell a person underneath the tarp. When we came back from the walk we couldn’t go into the house. The police closed off the area around the entrance to the house. It took almost an hour until we were allowed to go back into the house. While we were waiting a young man arrived and he was trying to go in to the house. He was desperately looking for something or somebody. The police talked to him and he explained that he got a text message on his phone from a friend. The police asked him about the name of the person that sent the message and the birth date. After the young man answered the police officer told him that his friend had just committed suicide. He jumped from the apartment tower. The young man that was looking for his friend broke down and cried. Why would somebody do this, w
