September 26, 2019 - Good morning Sweden

When I woke up we were almost there - in Trelleborg, Sweden.
My humans had a restless night; they couldn’t sleep which is totally understandable, as they are not used to sleep on the floor.
While most of the other passengers went to their cars my humans and I waited until the ferry docked at the ferry terminal and we could de-board. Maybe I need to explain to you what a ferry is because you might be as clueless as I am. A ferry is a ship that brings cars, trucks and busses as well as their passengers from one ferry terminal across the sea to another ferry terminal. We did not have a vehicle but that did not matter.
It was still dark outside when we arrived in Trelleborg, well it was 4:30 am, no wonder it was still dark.
The next leg of our travels would be from Trelleborg Central Station to Malmö Central Station. After being dropped off at the ferry terminal in Trelleborg it was a two minutes walk to get to Central Station but it took my humans about 20 minutes to figure out where to go.
Central Station in Trelleborg was small and it was cold there. After sitting there for a while my humans decided to check if we could take an earlier train to Malmö as my mistress had booked flexible tickets. What a relief, we were able to take the next train to Malmö and hope for a bigger train station there. This train ride was only a short one with 34 minutes.
In Malmö my humans had something for breakfast in a coffee shop at the train station. After waiting a couple of hours my mistress went to check if the last leg of our trip is included in the price and the service agent told her she should have called there, as this is a taxi, but the price would be included. Hey, that information was in Swedish, how are my humans supposed to know they have to call? My mistress tried calling and luckily everything was fine and they would be waiting for us.

At 1:10 pm our train to Stockholm left on time. They have pet compartments in trains in Sweden and pets travel for free. There were 16 seats in this compartment and when we boarded the train there were two more dogs in the compartment. Later on this leg two more dogs, two cats and a rabbit joined us. All the pets were very friendly and none of the other dogs barked or growled.
The rabbit was sitting next to my master and wasn’t afraid when I peaked into the box. The humans that belonged to the pets were very friendly too and my humans had a long conversation with some of them. Thanks for the nice company to the nice lady with the small white dog and to the lovely couple with the black medium sized dog across the aisle. The lovely couple just returned to Stockholm from a trip through Europe for a few months.

In Stockholm we had to run to catch our next train as the last train had a short delay. Our next leg was Stockholm Central Station to Jörn Station. The train that took us there was the “Arctic Circle Train”. The Arctic Circle Train is a night train and brings you all the way up to Kiruna from Stockholm. During the day it brings you from Kiruna to Narvik in Norway.
On this train we had a seat in the pet compartment again and we met Niki and her mistress. Niki was a small dog and she barked at me but I think she was a little nervous, as I was way bigger; Later on we both relaxed and had a nice nap. My humans had a snack from the train bistro and made conversation with Niki’s mistress. Later when the train stopped at a station we heard a dog barking. My master looked outside the window and there was a man with a young German Shepherd that growled at my master even though the dog was on the platform and my master in the train. This dog and his human boarded the train and wanted to come into the pet compartment. But there were only four seats in there and three of them already occupied and two dogs. It would have been way to small for another dog and it’s human. So Niki’s mistress kindly asked the man to look for another seat. Obviously the train was quite full and he couldn’t find a seat because he went back and forth. One time we saw the dog run on the aisle, passing our compartment while he pulled his human with him. That was a funny picture. This dog was not very friendly and not trained at all. Later the ticket inspector told us he found a seat for the dog and it’s human in another part of the train.
My humans couldn’t sleep as the seats were very uncomfortable and after Niki and her mistress left the train heating and electricity were shut down in our compartment. It got very cold.
