February 27, 2019 – Dog Park – I am in heaven

Image
Today my humans took me to a different dog park, a really big one. They took me to the Clark County Dog Fancier’s Park https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/parks/Pages/DogFanciersPark.aspx. A very nice dog park, very big. There are five different areas where we dogs can run and play. In every area there is water for us dogs to drink. My humans took me to one area and there were a couple of other dogs, most of them the same size as me. One of them obviously liked me as he/she approached me and said “Hello”. There were a lot of dogs in that area and my humans decided to go into another area with fewer dogs. In the next area were three dogs, a German Shepherd and two others. One of them came to me as soon as I entered the area and wanted to play with me. Well, before I play in a new area I need to sniff and read the newspaper. Because I did not react and played with the other dog they lost interest in me and I had lots of time to sniff. In this area and the one we were in before was no grass, o

February 20, 2019 – SNOW! In the desert?

Image
Yesterday we were in Pahrump because my humans had to do some business there. Pahrump is on the other side of the mountain. To go there you have to go over the pass. The pass is about 3,727 ft. / 1.136 m high. So in the winter it happens that there is snow, not much though, but people in that area are not used to driving in the snow. Well, when we went back from Pahrump to Las Vegas it started snowing just a little bit. My humans needed to do some groceries in Las Vegas later and we got home late. When we woke up this morning there was snow. I mean real snow not just a few snowflakes. The pass was closed during the night, as the snow got so bad there. Of course the snow did not last long because the ground was too warm. But it looked weird, snow in the desert. The weather stayed bad during the day so my humans decided to stay home for the day. There was a balloon jam later the day but my humans said they don’t take the risk going downtown for that. I love snow, but not here. Snow i

February 13, 2019 – A new (temporary) home

Image
The last couple of days my humans looked for an apartment or studio to rent. They were looking for a place to rent in Pahrump but it looks like there is not much available to rent and not on short term. We visited one nice little house with two bedrooms and my humans liked it a lot but it was only available on long term. So my humans looked on the Internet again and called a couple of apartment rental companies. Finally they found one that rents out on short term. My humans and I went there to check it out. It was a nice little one-room studio with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Believe it or not, we got the apartment and moved in today. Moving in – well we brought in our stuff. The apartment is fully furnished. It’s close to the Air Base in Las Vegas, which means you can hear the jets real loud, but it’s not as bad as it sounds. I like it, finally a place where we can stay after spending about two weeks in hotels. We will only stay latest until the end of May but that’s better ok fo

February 11, 2018 - What a terrible night

After there was so much screaming in the night my humans were still tired in the morning. For breakfast they went for iHop. After that we visited Janet, one of the balloon friends. Later my humans and I went to Famous Dave’s for dinner. Oooh that smelled so good. They ordered a combo of spareribs and briskets with corn and muffins. My mistress gave me some of the brisket to try. Wow, I could get used to that, that was really good stuff. We went to bed early again. Today the weather wasn’t good. As the Internet in the Motel 6 was not working my humans went to Starbucks for breakfast. A long breakfast, for 4 hours they’ve been sitting there and doing stuff on the Internet. I think they were looking for an apartment. When they were done we went to look for some apartments on the way from Las Vegas to Pahrump. They found some in gated areas. My humans stopped at the Gallery Apartment Homes. My humans told me that they liked them very much but were looking for something in Pahrump not La

February 8, 2019 – We made it!

Today we did not have to drive that far, so my humans slept a little longer. My humans had breakfast in the hotel and we left right after they were finished. It started to look like Nevada already although we still were in Arizona. I got excited and looked forward to finally arrive and be able to run around in Ken’s backyard. Little did I know. Shortly before we approached Las Vegas we passed Lake Mead and my humans stopped for a couple of minutes to have a better look at Lake Mead. They thought of visiting Hoover Damn but they decided that they would do that another time. When we arrived in Pahrump and my humans just stopped at Albertsons to get something to eat and drink and went to the DMV to register the car. At the DMV they talked to Holly again. Remember, she was that nice lady that registered the old car. Unfortunately she told my humans that there were forms missing to register the car. The papers should have been given to my humans at the border control. But the officer a

February 7, 2019 – What a windy day

Image
My humans got up very early today. We’ve been on the road at 7 am. Are they completely nuts? I do need my sleep and I hate getting up early. At least I could sleep in the car, although it was really shaky. It was still dark when we left the hotel but it wasn’t raining, just very chilly. Later the sun came out and it was a nice day. Well, it would have been if it hadn't been so windy. We left the state of Texas just a few hours after we left the hotel. Now we were in New Mexico and by crossing the state line we also had a change of the time zone. In New Mexico the wind got stronger while we drove uphill for quite a while. Our car had a hard time driving up the hill with all the wind. But our car wasn’t the only one. There were trucks pulling trailers and the trailers went from left to right and right to left. When we stopped at a gas station my mistress was told that this was a calm day. They always have that much wind. The elevation was around 7,000 ft. / 2.100 m and the land

February 6, 2019 – Driving through Oklahoma and see nothing of the state

Image
This morning my humans packed the car again and we left for a long ride. We still had to drive 1500 miles / 2400 km in 3 days. When we left Fort Worth the clouds were low and no sun was shining. As soon as we came to Oklahoma we had fog and could not see anything of the state. We did not know if there were fields or mountains to the left or the right. When we approached the Chickasaw Tourist Information my humans stopped. In most of the states you can find Tourist Information for the state shortly after crossing the border between the states. Usually they have maps and brochures of the state. In Oklahoma there was no such Tourist Information so my humans decided go to this one. Julia who works there greeted us. It was a very nice Tourist Information and they sold original things made by the Chickasaw. The Chickasaws are one of the Native tribes in Oklahoma. My humans purchased some coffee mugs and had a coffee break. Next to the Tourist Information is a chocolate factory called Bedr
