February 5, 2019 – Longhorns and German dialects

We stayed in Fort Worth for another day. My humans wanted to go to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Stockyards is a historic district. It holds a former livestock market. In the late 1800s the cattle were trailed along the Chisholm Trail to the railheads. Fort Worth was the last stop to get rest and supplies. Between 1866 and 1890 drovers trailed more than 4 million cattle through Fort Worth. In 1876 the railroad arrived in Fort Worth and became a major shipping point for livestock. You can read more about the Fort Worth Stockyards here: https://www.fortworthstockyards.org. We arrived early when there weren’t many people. My humans wanted to be on time for the Cattle Drive. First we visited the area where the cattle, hogs and sheep were kept and were trailed in the railroad. That was very interesting. They have a cowboy church but as it wasn’t Sunday there was no service. While we were waiting for the Cattle Drive to start some cows passed us. Well, not that kind of c

February 4, 2019 – Arriving in Fort Worth, Texas

This morning we left Brinkley in Arkansas. After we were on the road for a while my humans saw two dogs running next to the freeway, a beagle followed by a black dog. . Now comes the strange thing, about 150 km further my humans again saw two dogs running next to the freeway – a beagle and a black dog. The only difference was the black dog had a white spot on his chest this time. Isn’t that completely crazy? Around lunchtime we drove the state border to Texas. My humans were hungry and stopped at a McDonalds to have a burger. Can you imagine, they even ordered meat without anything else for me? It was so good, I think I could get used to it. In the afternoon we arrived in Fort Worth. They told me we would stay at Peter’s cousins house for the night and the next day. Ortrud, Peter’s cousin is a very nice person and so are her grandchildren and daughter. I think the children liked me. The little one smelled so good, I just HAD to kiss her. Let me tell you a little bit about Arkansas

February 3, 2019 - Thee states in one day

Yesterday we went from Dunkirk, NY to Walton, KY. Because we have to stop every 200 km to fill up the tank we loosetime. Today my humans got up very, very early. Way too early for me anyways. We've been on the road for 10 hours and I am done with sitting in the car for today. They told me that we have to be inPahrump by February 8 because that transfer permission is only valid for 10 days. We lost time because of the break down of the car. The humans had some snacks on the way and a meal at KFC. I did not get anything today, only dog food at the Motel in Brinkley, AR tonight. That's not fair! Hereby I officially file a complaint - I don't want dog food, I demand to have human food! We went through Kentucky, drove through Tennessee and stay for the night in Arkansas. Now I am tired and will go to sleep. I promise to write a little bit more about what we've seen and where we were. The good thing is, it's warm here, 21C/70F. Of course there is no snow any more. Isn

February 1, 2019 - The Falls, back to the USA and a surprise we did not need

My humans woke up early today and after they showered we went to Tim Hortons to have breakfast. I got some breakfast too. People at that Tim Hortons were very friendly and some of them came over and asked if they could pet me. If you read this now feel free to comment. It was a pleasure meeting you. After my humans finished breakfast we went to see the falls. Both my humans have seen the falls before in summer time. But this was different. It was cold, -15C / 5F. There was a lot of ice in the falls. I had to walk through a lot of salt but it was worth it. This was absolutely breathtaking. Nature is doing great things. In the Center at the falls we met Colleen, she works there. She is so nice and she pet me. It was a pleasure meeting you. Now we went to the US border to leave Canada. This was a tough one. We spent almost 2 hours there. The officer wasn't sure if he should let my humans in or not as they have been in the USA and Canada for about two years without going back to Ge

I knew it, they packed up the car today. But let's start at the beginning; my humans and I picked up the new car yesterday. It took quite a while until everything was finished with all the paperwork. I must admit, it's a nice car, but it might be a little too small for all the stuff we are carrying around. Later yesterday my humans went to Oak Knoll Stables where my mistress groomed the horses again. She was so very sorry to tell Caroline that we would leave the next day. After we came back my mistress changed at Joyce's house and we went to Hermy's house. They had coffee and cake while they talked. I got some special treats too. Did I mention I love Hermy? I really do and not just because of the treats she gives me, she is such a lovely person, so sweet. We said goodbye and left to go back to Joyce's house where my humans packed up the rest of the stuff. Today they loaded the car, but first my master had to go back to the car dealership because something went wr

January 29, 2019 – RIP Lupomobil

What a day, I am exhausted. Well, let me start at the beginning. My humans had to get up early because my mistress had an appointment at the hair salon. It had snowed in the night and they wanted to make sure they could drive out on the driveway and might have to clean it. I don’t like getting up early; I’d rather sleep a little longer. Not today – the alarm went off on 7.30 am. My humans decided to leave earlier and get a coffee at Tim Hortons. I can’t complain about that because they ordered an English muffin with Bacon and Eggs for me. Looks like my humans finally understood what I really want to eat. If you want to see a video on how I eat that please visit my Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/LupoTheDogWithTheBlog/ After that we went to the hair salon called Evolution (https://www.facebook.com/Evolution-Hair-Design-292145867541108/) where Jillian cut my mistress’ hair. This was boring but they talked about me and I had to listen what they were saying to make sure it’s just

January 28, 2019 – Packing, what does that mean? Where are we going now?

Image
My mistress started packing up again. That usually means we leave and go to another place. I haven’t figured out yet where we are going this time. So far not everything is packed yet and they still are quite relaxed, not as we are leaving the next day. My bed is still next to the bed of my mistress and my bowl is still where it belongs so I am not too worried yet. But, I have to make sure to stay close to my humans now. They might leave without me. I mean, they say they love me but you never know. Better safe than sorry. I will follow them wherever they go now, just to make sure they will not disappear. Maybe we go back to the desert?
