July 25 – R.I.P. young stranger

Image
Later this afternoon my master went for a walk with me. When we left the house there was something strange. There was a tarp on the left, right in front of the house. There were policemen too. I could smell a person underneath the tarp. When we came back from the walk we couldn’t go into the house. The police closed off the area around the entrance to the house. It took almost an hour until we were allowed to go back into the house. While we were waiting a young man arrived and he was trying to go in to the house. He was desperately looking for something or somebody. The police talked to him and he explained that he got a text message on his phone from a friend. The police asked him about the name of the person that sent the message and the birth date. After the young man answered the police officer told him that his friend had just committed suicide. He jumped from the apartment tower. The young man that was looking for his friend broke down and cried. Why would somebody do this, w

June 19, 2019 – An unusual evening

Image
Remember I told you my humans met two very close family members? Today I met one of them again. She went for a walk with me and my humans and a friend of hers. After the walk she took me with her and her friend and we went to a part of Frankfurt called Bockenheim. Bockenheim is where the Goethe University used to be; now it is spread all over Frankfurt. We walked through Bockenheim for a while and went to her friend’s house afterwards. There was another dog, a nice wiener dog. The dog was very friendly. My mistress was a little worried because I wasn’t used to that situation and she wasn’t used being without me. I had a lot of fun that evening and maybe we’ll do that again one time.

July 10, 2019 – I learn Japanese now

Image
After leaving my mom’s house we moved back to Frankfurt. My humans found a room in an apartment where we live now. Our new landlord is Japanese. We live in an apartment tower, which is strange for me, but I get used to it. Our landlord talks to me in Japanese and she tries to teach me. I do understand some of the things she says but most of it I don’t. Never the less it is fun hearing that language. The room we live in is quite small and during the day we have to put the mattress aside so my mistress can work on her laptop. My master sits on a tiny desk because his computer is so big. My humans and I are happy to be here and don’t mind tiny rooms. As soon as my master finds a new job we will find an apartment on our own. But as long as we do not know where his job will be it does not make sense to rent an apartment just to move out again soon. Instead of walking along the Rhine we walk along the Main now and not far from here the both rivers meet. Our landlord lives with us in

July 1, 2019 – Visiting my mom

Image
We had to leave Peter’s moms house because she has a dog hair allergy and can’t deal with it any longer. My humans had three opportunities where we could go until we find an apartment but all them backed up with different reasons as family emergencies, sickness etc. Luckily my mom agreed to have us for a couple of days. No, not my four-legged mom. Unfortunately my four-legged mom passed away in April at the age of 14. I would have loved to meet her again. My human mom agreed to have us. She is such a kind person and she loved me and my brothers so much. We had a great childhood while we lived there. My dog aunt also passed away so the only dog left in my mom’s house is Sam. My mom and her partner welcomed us and we had a few wonderful days. We went for long walks along the river Rheine and I played with Sam. Did I tell you I love my two-legged mom? I remember when I was a little puppy she took such good care of me and showed my brothers and me the world. I met my brothers after we

June 22, 2019 – Long ride in the car, Sister E and Noma

Today Peter’s mom, Peter, my mistress and I went to Kaiserslautern where we would meet more family. This happens when you were gone for a couple of years - you meet again with relatives. I love looking out of the window while we are driving. This time I had to be in front of the passenger seat and to look out of the front window I had to sit on my master's lap (see picture). On the way to Kaiserslautern we picked up E., a cousin of Peter’s mom. She is a very nice person and I like her a lot. Well, she must be a very kind person after all she did. Sister E is a nun and she spent 40 years in Ghana/Africa where she helped to build two hospitals in Accra and Bator for the people that live there. Sister E is a medical doctor and she worked very hard to accomplish all that. She trained doctors and medical staff so they can work independently. Also she taught people hygienic rules and showed how to eat healthy, even in poverty. Sister E and her team fought against Noma. In case you ha

June 3, 2019 – Meeting two close family members

Image
Today was a big day for my mistress we met two very close family members she hadn’t seen for almost two years. They came to Peter’s moms house because my mistress thought I would be very happy when I see them again. At first I couldn’t really remember. I could feel I knew them but their smell was different. After a couple of minutes I remembered and I was very, very happy to see them. We went to a café in Oberursel to sit and talk, well the humans talked I cuddled, my kind of language. They talked for a while and I just enjoyed being with all of them. My mistress was very happy to see them again and would have loved to spend even more time together. She missed them a lot while we were gone. I could feel her emotions very clearly and she needed me a lot to help with her overwhelming emotions. I love being with family and hope to see them more often.

June 11, 2019 – Toddlers smell good!

Today I met a new family member, my mistress’ nephew. He is not a new born any more but one year old. My mistress has only seen pictures of him so far because he is in Germany and we were overseas. She was very exited to meet some of her family again, hasn’t seen them for a long time. We all met at the Gimbacher Hof in Kelkheim/Taunus (https://www.hof-gimbach.de/ ). Gimbacher Hof is a Gartenwirtschaft, American’s would maybe call it a beer garden but that would not be correct. Beer garden is a phrase originally from Bavaria, one part of Germany. This is where you get beer and traditional Bavarian food. Gartenwirtschaft, garden inn would be more correct. They serve food from Hesse (another part of Germany) with Apfelwein – apple wine. No, not Apple Cider – Apple Cider is sweeter whereas Apfelwein tastes rougher. Apple Cider has about 2% alcohol and Apfelwein about 5-7% alcohol. Some people drink Apfelwein pure or either mixed with sparkling water or sparkling lemon water. If you drin
