Italy, a new country to discover – October 15, 2021

Image
Not much happened the last couple of months. My humans were very busy working on the big box they call computer. They move something called mouse and all of a sudden they have colorful pictures on the box. Their mouse does not smell and does not have fur or a tail and it does not run away – how boring! Now we have to go to Italy to talk to some people there, my humans will talk, not Mogli or me. Today we left early in the morning. Mogli and I had our dog beds in the car. The night before I had to go out to take care of some personal business. Not only once but twice. My humans hardly got any sleep. Luckily I was able to sleep in the car. After a couple of hours of driving we arrived in Switzerland and later Italy. When we came to the Italian border control nobody was there and we could just drive over the Swiss border.   Switzerland has a lot – and I mean a looooooot – of tunnels. Short ones, some open on one side like a gallery and others are pretty long, just like the Gotthard tunnel

My mistress is busy painting walls, doors, ceilings and furniture. Because my humans do "Living for work" they help around the house wherever help is needed. In return they can live in a room, apartment or camper for free and sometimes even food is included. So, my mistress goes painting a few hours every day whereas my master does other things, like repairs.  I can't smell much chemicals when my mistress comes back after doing paint jobs. She uses chalk colors. In the pictures you can see some things she painted. before - after After my humans finish their work around here, they work on their software or walk us dogs. Sometimes we walk up the hill to the big cross or to the little oratory. Other times we drive to the woods or to the field on top on one of the hills. Mogli and I can run free there. We both love running free, but I get tired easily. I have to admit, I am getting oder and calmer, whereas the young fellow Mogli never gets tired. He is having so much fun whe

Food - the most important thing in life - July 2, 2021

Image
I already told you that I love food, not just dog food but human food as well. My humans fed me a lot of different dog foods, some of them I liked, others I did not. They feed me dry food, my digestion is not too keen on wet food. In the USA I had food with peanut butter flavour, or cheeseburger flavour, in Canada it was mainly hamburger flavour. Here in Germany it's chicken or beef flavour, sometimes duck. None of them were outstanding. While we were in Burg, Dithmarschen a year ago, my humans found a shop that sells dog food mainly made out of fish. My humans bought a sack of food there and I loved it right away. Mogli? Don't ask him, he will anything, he doesn't care.  Mogli: "That's not true, I love a good taste. I only eat paper because I can chew on it and will not tear anything else apart. Remember, I'm a Husky and I love fish, that's in my blood. I was born in Swedish Lapland." Be quiet, you don't care how the food tastes, as long as it i

Funny dolls in the garden, Chloe and Cindy and my mistress broke her arm - April 23, 2021 On Easter Sunday my humans, Mogli and I went for a walk in the woods. All of a sudden while talking to my master, my mistress slipped and fell. She fell on her left side, very hard, and I could hear a crack. She was in a lot of pain when she got up again. My master took her to the Bundeswehr Krankenhaus (a hospital) in Koblenz. My master, Mogli and I had to wait quite a while until she finally came back to the car. She had a cast on her left arm, the arm was broken and needed to be in the cast for about 6 weeks. Now she can't take a shower and needs help doing somethings. Luckily my master is here and can help her. Sometimes when our humans take Mogli and me for a walk at the Lahn we meet two boxer dog girls named Cindy and Chloe. It's fun playing with them and if no other dogs are around we can run free. Cindy is older than I am and she doesn't like it when I say hallo doggy style, y

March 27, 2021 – my mistress is an artist and I love her pictures

Image
All these pictures I add to my blog or post on my Facebook page are taken by my mistress. But she only shares the “not so good ones” with me, most of the time. I love her pictures!   Last year she made that short video of the Husky farm we stayed at. Now she finally found the time to finish it to the full length of the song. All the pictures and videos in this video are made by my mistress and she did everything else too (except the music). It gives me the chills when I watch this. Unfortunately I could never see the dogsled because I had to wait at home but I know all the dogs personally, played with some of them and I am part of this video. Some of the dogs in the video crossed the rainbow bridge.   Maybe you want to watch it too and let me or my mistress know what you think.   My mistress loves taking pictures of wildlife and details. She could sit for hours and wait for something to show up that’s worth taking a picture of. Unfortunately there weren’t many occasions to do that but

February 14, 2021 – Wine, crazy dogs from the neighborhood and airplane

Image
Today my mistress took Mogli and me for a walk up the hill. It was a beautiful day; the sun was shining, and it was still a little chilly. Perfect day for a senior dog to walk uphill.   It’s a nice walk up there, a small path through the trees. This used to be vineyards. Viniculture at the Lahn has a more than 800 years history and tradition. The Romans brought the wine to Mosel, Rhine and Donau. They found proof for this close to where we are. There is written evidence that there were vitaceous along in Nassau/Lahn in 1159. Nassau is just around the corner. They started growing grapes here in Fachbach around 1385. Wine was more than a beverage, in the medieval times it was a staff of life, a payment and exchange object and was used in worship. Vineyards belonged to churches, monasteries, noble lords of the manor, rich burgess and farmers. The late 16 th century and early 17 th century was the prime age of the wine culture at the Lahn. During the 30 Year’s War wine lost it

January 29, 2021 – The water rises

Image
You might remember, we are living close to the river Lahn. The snow is melting, and it rained for a couple of days. Now the water level rises, and the shores are flooded.   My humans can’t walk us there as they closed the shores this afternoon. We were able to walk there in the morning though and see for ourselves.   I miss walking on the shore, there is so much to see, and the newspaper is very interesting. For those of you who haven’t read my older blogs – sniffing around is like reading the newspaper, you get all the information you need: who was here, was it male or female, small or big, old or young….   The swan does not care about the flooding all he wants is to tell us – STAY AWAY or I’ll bite you. Honestly, do you think that would make you less interesting? Au contraire – Come on let us play!
