March 1, 2019 – Sightseeing in Las Vegas

A couple of days ago my humans decided to go out for dinner. To all my Canadian friends – just so you know, dinner is the equivalent for supper.
My humans love Persian cuisine and they haven’t been to a Persian restaurant for a couple of years now. Of course my mistress cooks Persian recipes but it’s hard to get the spices she needs for that and traveling makes it impossible to take them with you.
Luckily my humans found a good Persian restaurant called Hafez. They loved the food and I tell you, it smelled very delicious. If you ever look for a good Persian Restaurant in Las Vegas visit Hafez (www.hafezpserianrestaurant.com). They were very friendly and I got some ice cubes. You must know I do not like warm water, it needs to be cold. Therefore I prefer ice cubes as they are very cold and it is fun to chew them.

Today my humans decided it’s about time to do some sightseeing in Las Vegas. The last times we have been to Nevada my humans did not do much sightseeing in Las Vegas. We’ve been to some places in the desert but not to Las Vegas.
So – first we went to the Neon Museum. The Neon Museum was founded in 1996 and is a “nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying and exhibiting iconic Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment. “ (The Neon Museum brochure, Vegas Illuminated – Highlights from the Neon Museum)

When we arrived there was a free tour through the yard where the humans got some information on some of the neon signs. They have a new neon sign, which will be presented, to the public in a couple of days. It’s the guitar from the Hard Rock Café.
Andrew, who did the tour, knew a lot about these signs. The tour took about 20 minutes and afterwards we had time to walk around the yard.
First thing my humans took me, was the star of Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley – who is that or who was that? And why is he having a star on the ground? I do not understand anything. My mistress explained to me that Elvis Presley was an American singer and actor, also called the King of Rock’n Roll. He was very famous and he obviously played an important role to Las Vegas. There are a lot of Elvis Presley imitators here and even Wedding Chapels have Elvis imitators you can hire for your wedding.
Wedding Chapels, what’s that now? My humans told me that people get married here in Las Vegas in small chapels. These are quick weddings that are very famous. A lot of tourists come to Vegas just to get married here.

Sorry, back to the Neon Museum. There are so many neon signs here. They get donated to the museum. The neon signs belong to the companies that made them and not to the business owners. Luckily a lot of the signs are donated to the museum because they are history of Las Vegas. Not all signs are on display as the yard is just not big enough. The neon sign of the Moulin Rouge for example is on display but they had to re-arrange the letters to fit it in.

Some of the signs were replaced by new ones and others were taken down because the business was closed.
One of the “signs” that’s on display is the pirate skull from the Treasure Island Hotel. It was on display from 1993-2003.

My humans told me we would be back to see the Neon Museum when it is dark because some of them are still working.

After the Neon Museum we drove downtown and parked at Treasure Island to walk all the way to Circus Circus. My mistress was at Circus Circus in 1979, when she was a teenager and while her father and her stepmother gambled she was upstairs in the kids area. Now after 40 years she got back there and some things had changed.
Circus Circus is shaped as a circus tent. They were circus act every day in the casino. Nowadays they show small shows for about 10 to 15 minutes. Today kids are allowed downstairs in the gambling area, which was unthinkable when my mistress was a teenager.

We attended one show in the Circus Circus and afterwards we left to go back to the car. This time we took the bus. We went off the bus at the Mirage and my humans wanted to take the shuttle train to Treasure Island just because it is fun. When we were walking from the bus stop to the entrance of the casino we passed an area that looked like a very small park. This was the “Dog Relief Area”. Starting in 1990 the Mirage was the venue for the Siegfried and Roy Show. You can find the Secret Garden in the Mirage. I will tell you more about that when we visit that – and we will, for sure because my humans love that place.
Siegfried and Roy, you know the ones with the white tigers. Even I know them.
Well, that Dog Relief Area was beautiful and I just had to do my business there. Thank you Siegfried and Roy for making sure the Dog Relief Area is so beautiful. Look at the pictures, don’t you agree with me?

Afterwards my humans wanted to visit THE famous Pawn Store from the TV series Pawn Stars. Yesterday we watched one of the episodes filmed at that pawn shop. My humans and I went in the shop and my humans were surprised how small the shop actually is because on television it looks way bigger. There was a lot of stuff there, not interesting for me. When we left my humans saw some trikes parked on the parking lot next to the pawn shop. The men standing there and being responsible for the rentals looked at me and said, how happy I look just like there is a big smile on my face. Yes, I am happy, very happy. I enjoy being with my humans 24/7 and I love taking care of my mistress as a support dog. AND I love traveling and seeing new people and places. When my humans stay home for more than two days I get restless and make them go somewhere. I am happy to go to Walmart. Don’t ask me what it is with Walmart but I do recognize the sign and I get very excited to go in. Every time – and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME – I am at Walmart people look at me and tell me how beautiful and well behaved I am.

Sorry, I got sidetracked again. While my humans talked to the men on the parking lot my mistress handed them one of my “business cards”. When my master asked how much it would be to rent one of the trikes he was told the price and they said that as I am a celebrity I was allowed to sit in the trike. Me? A celebrity? Wow – never expected that although I know that people from all over the world read my blog. If you want to check them out go on www.elitemotorrentals.com.

When we finally arrived at home I was very, very tired. While I slept in the car on the way home I dreamed I was on the red carpet, people applauding and photographers everywhere that take pictures of me. Unfortunately we arrived at home and I had to wake up. Maybe my dream will continue tonight.
