March 11, 2019 – Never ending story, part 2

Another day, another chance. My mistress contacted the officer at customs at Las Vegas airport today to get the missing paper for registering the car. She was told that she could come by and get the paper. So my humans went to the custom office at the airport again and the officer did not understand why the DMV would need the paper but gave it to my mistress anyways. My humans drove to the DMV right after leaving the airport. The line was not as long as last time but never the less it took more than one hour to get to the information desk. We were fine to go inside and wait to go to an agent. The agent looked at all the papers and – guess what he said? Yes, you are right, he said there is another paper missing!!!! My mistress got that missing paper as an email while waiting at customs. She emailed it to the agent and he printed it. The agent took all the papers to his supervisor and came back to us to tell us that the paper had to be signed by the dealership where my humans purchased

Importing a car from Canada to Nevada seems to be very difficult. My mistress has tried to do that since we arrived in Nevada on February 8th. DMV, that office where you register your car, gave my humans a list of papers they would need to import and register the car. After more than 30 days my mistress finally had all the papers to get the car imported. Getting a simple letter from Jeep that states the vehicle meets the standards for EPA & DOT standards was very complicated but they did not understand that my humans are neither Canadian nor US citizens. Please don’t ask me what EPA & DOT is. I do not understand all that stuff. Papers, basically a piece of wood with some plant juice on it can’t be that important. Unfortunately they seem to be that important. At least important enough to make endless phone calls, write lots of emails and stay in line for hours at the DMV. After my humans went to customs at the airport in Las Vegas yesterday, where they picked up the import pap

After it rained yesterday it was a beautiful day again today. The sun was shining and it was about 20 °C / 68F. My humans decided to take me to the dog part today for me to run and play with other dogs. I was very excited and couldn’t wait to get there. When we arrived there were already a couple of dogs playing. Today even the big area with the grass area was open. First area we went to I played with a German Shepherd and a Husky. This was not the grassy area I wanted to go to so I pretended to be bored by the other dogs and stayed close to the fence to the preferred area. Luckily my humans learned how to read my body language and took me to the grassy area. At the grassy area, a huge area, were a couple more dogs. One was an Irish Wolfhound called Aoife, which is Eva in Irish. She is a beautiful and gentle dog and we played a little bit. Another dog, a black puppy came to us as well as another Husky. We all had a lot of fun. A short while later two more dogs came into that area,

March 1, 2019 – Sightseeing in Las Vegas

A couple of days ago my humans decided to go out for dinner. To all my Canadian friends – just so you know, dinner is the equivalent for supper. My humans love Persian cuisine and they haven’t been to a Persian restaurant for a couple of years now. Of course my mistress cooks Persian recipes but it’s hard to get the spices she needs for that and traveling makes it impossible to take them with you. Luckily my humans found a good Persian restaurant called Hafez. They loved the food and I tell you, it smelled very delicious. If you ever look for a good Persian Restaurant in Las Vegas visit Hafez (www.hafezpserianrestaurant.com). They were very friendly and I got some ice cubes. You must know I do not like warm water, it needs to be cold. Therefore I prefer ice cubes as they are very cold and it is fun to chew them. Today my humans decided it’s about time to do some sightseeing in Las Vegas. The last times we have been to Nevada my humans did not do much sightseeing in Las Vegas. We’ve

February 27, 2019 – Dog Park – I am in heaven

Today my humans took me to a different dog park, a really big one. They took me to the Clark County Dog Fancier’s Park https://www.clarkcountynv.gov/parks/Pages/DogFanciersPark.aspx. A very nice dog park, very big. There are five different areas where we dogs can run and play. In every area there is water for us dogs to drink. My humans took me to one area and there were a couple of other dogs, most of them the same size as me. One of them obviously liked me as he/she approached me and said “Hello”. There were a lot of dogs in that area and my humans decided to go into another area with fewer dogs. In the next area were three dogs, a German Shepherd and two others. One of them came to me as soon as I entered the area and wanted to play with me. Well, before I play in a new area I need to sniff and read the newspaper. Because I did not react and played with the other dog they lost interest in me and I had lots of time to sniff. In this area and the one we were in before was no grass, o

February 20, 2019 – SNOW! In the desert?

Image
Yesterday we were in Pahrump because my humans had to do some business there. Pahrump is on the other side of the mountain. To go there you have to go over the pass. The pass is about 3,727 ft. / 1.136 m high. So in the winter it happens that there is snow, not much though, but people in that area are not used to driving in the snow. Well, when we went back from Pahrump to Las Vegas it started snowing just a little bit. My humans needed to do some groceries in Las Vegas later and we got home late. When we woke up this morning there was snow. I mean real snow not just a few snowflakes. The pass was closed during the night, as the snow got so bad there. Of course the snow did not last long because the ground was too warm. But it looked weird, snow in the desert. The weather stayed bad during the day so my humans decided to stay home for the day. There was a balloon jam later the day but my humans said they don’t take the risk going downtown for that. I love snow, but not here. Snow i

The last couple of days my humans looked for an apartment or studio to rent. They were looking for a place to rent in Pahrump but it looks like there is not much available to rent and not on short term. We visited one nice little house with two bedrooms and my humans liked it a lot but it was only available on long term. So my humans looked on the Internet again and called a couple of apartment rental companies. Finally they found one that rents out on short term. My humans and I went there to check it out. It was a nice little one-room studio with a kitchenette and a bathroom. Believe it or not, we got the apartment and moved in today. Moving in – well we brought in our stuff. The apartment is fully furnished. It’s close to the Air Base in Las Vegas, which means you can hear the jets real loud, but it’s not as bad as it sounds. I like it, finally a place where we can stay after spending about two weeks in hotels. We will only stay latest until the end of May but that’s better ok fo
